Defined by the course’s architect, Forrest Richardson, as “fun golf” this course is not like your average everyday Scottsdale course. It is designed to be challenging to seasoned golfers as well as playable and enjoyable for beginners. All holes on the 18-hole course are par-3. This was done on purpose, to create a quicker and more fast paced game of golf.
Fun golf isn’t just your typical golf course at a faster pace either, architect Forrest Richardson defines it here: “fun golf is defined by presenting puzzles that beckon the player back for more. At Mountain Shadows we have created just that — a series of riddles that are demanding, but all the while enjoyable,” (bizjournals.com).
Combine these “fun” puzzles with the breathtaking views of Camelback and Mummy Mountains and it’s easy to see why so many are excited about the debut of this beautiful new course.

More on Mountain Shadows Golf Course
Originally designed in 1960 by Arthur Jack Snyder (mentor to Forrest Richardson), Mountain Shadows golf course has always been ahead of the game. Snyder’s challenge was to create a fun and challenging course on a piece of property half the size of a typical golf course. Snyder rose to the challenge, creating a course that was honored by Golf Digest is one of the “Top 10 Executive Golf Courses” in the world.
Changes were made to the original design in the 1970s, leading to it’s decline in popularity through this decade and into the 1980s. As more golf courses began to be developed in the surrounding areas, the Mountain Shadows course continued to lose popularity.
Therefore, it was decided that a complete renovation and renaissance of the project was necessary. It is this recreation that will have it’s grand opening Valentine’s Day 2017.
Forrest Richardson says of the project, “”Our work here is not solely to re-create, but to look deep into the original design. At every turn, we will bring to the surface the attributes which were so amazingly innovative in the early 1960s — but we will do so in a language which fits the new resort as it is to be appreciated in this new era. The job is one of balance — preserving, uncovering and restoring, but at the same time adding and subtracting to fit in with the new Mountain Shadows. As the design comes to life we will continually seek the same qualities that were being created nearly 50 years ago — beauty, harmony, function and innovation.” (golfgroupltd.com)

Protect Your Home!
Whether you’re planning on purchasing one of the 40 luxury homes that home builder Cullum Homes plans for the property or live near another golf course, it is important to protect your windows from errant golf balls.
Living on a golf course is a wonderful experience, but errant golf balls may become a nuisance if your house is situated in a high traffic area. Check your homeowner’s insurance to make sure that your house is covered in the case of a “hit and run” golf ball accident. It is rare for golfers to assume financial responsibility for the damage, as it is difficult, over longer ranges, to determine who hit the golf ball responsible. Check out the legalities in your area regarding who’s responsible. Often, your homeowner’s insurance should include damage to your windows.
